Welcome to the 2026-2027 Fellows

We are delighted to welcome twelve new Fellows for the 2026–27 academic year, whose research will contribute to our exploration of this year's theme, Scarcity and Abundance. Joining us from institutions across the world, our Fellows bring a rich diversity of geographical, chronological and disciplinary perspectives, spanning medieval China and Mongolia, early modern Asia and the Americas, and the modern histories of Europe, Africa and the United States.

Their research explores questions of resources, wealth, power and inequality, examining how societies have understood, experienced and responded to scarcity and abundance across different historical contexts. From the movement of goods and people through maritime and colonial networks to the politics of science, the environment and economic change, together they will tackle big questions about the ways scarcity and abundance have been created, framed, and critiqued across time.
